I’ve always believed in putting my goals or wishes ‘out there’. When I had my previous blog The Strands Of Me I’d write one Christmas wish list post and add things I needed, wanted or just liked. At the end of the year I’d go back and read my post from the previous year and would usually find that throughout the year, everything would have made it’s way to me. With one exception – a cure for my Alopecia. Other than that {which is always going to be on the wish list}, I’d read over and be grateful for everything that had come to me over the year.
This year I have a new blog, so I’m going to make a new tradition and set goals, not wishes. I’m trying not to see them as a resolution, I don’t believe in setting unattainable limits for myself. I am keeping focused on growing myself, learning, and becoming the best version of me that I can be.
So for 2018, my goals are to:
~ Be a Better Mum. I find myself saying no too often lately and am forcing myself to stop and think, what would really happen if I just said yes? Nothing, if I’m honest. So I’m trying to say yes to them more. I’m trying to have more patience and I’m trying to stress less. I’m working on being in the moment when it’s family time and not thinking about the 100 million other things running through my head. I want to put my phone down more and pick up colouring pens, barbies, and lego.
~ Spend more time with my Husband. Both Hubby and I are on a journey stage in our lives. We’re each learning more about ourselves and each other, and it’s important to remember to come together with and without the kids to support the other. I’d love to have lunch together a few times a month while we’re both in a position that we can, to organize an actual date night more than once a year, spend time each day not just talking about our days, but listening to the other.
~ Grow my Team. It’s no secret that I work as a Team Leader for Thermomix. I love my job and want to spend the year growing my team. Not just the number of consultants, but working with growing the consultants themselves. How? I want to help my consultants achieve their Go Getter Levels and reach their personal goals and to work with my newer ones to achieve their Rewards programs and extra bonuses.
~ Complete my Study. I firmly believe in learning throughout life, there is always more we can learn about everything. Earlier this year I started learning more about Nutrition. I study online at night instead of watching TV, in the evenings I’m not working. By June 2018 I’ll have finished a Diploma in Nutrition. I am thoroughly enjoying every subject {somehow managing to ace Chemistry with a High Distinction!!} and can’t wait to learn more about food and how it affects our bodies. This is close to my heart with my alopecia, my husband’s intolerance of amines and all the terrible unresearched nutritional advice available online. What better way to find the truth of it than learn more myself?
~ Write my Cookbook. I’ve been talking about doing this for years and if I learn one thing, it’s that I can complete things when I put my mind to it. I aim to finish writing my cookbook in 2018. And to start myself off, I’ve already started my Contents Page. I’m creating the outline so that the substance is ready to be put in.
~ Be the Healthiest Version of me. I’ve been neglecting my gym visits lately and over the Festive season have been very festive with my eating. I know over the break I haven’t been treating my body the best I can {especially my liver} so I aim to be healthier. I’m not aiming to lose a set amount of weight or ‘detox’ {cough, bullshit, cough}. I just want to be the healthiest version of me. How? –> going to the gym at least three times a week {because I enjoy it!} –> eating foods that work with my body.
~ Play every second day. I play piano and for me, it’s like meditating. My brain switches off and I’m never more at peace than I am playing something. Anything. I want to stress less and this form of relief always works for me. So I’m aiming to play every second day, even for 5 minutes, to recenter myself.
What are your 2018 Goals?
