Get Set

Date

The night has been booked. You’ve spent (quite a lot of) time preparing a delicious meal for that someone special in your life. Maybe you’ve even had a shower, chosen something nice to wear and tided up the dining room little.

You may have pulled out that nice dining set from the back of the cupboard that Grandma gave you (don’t forget to wash it!). Gotten it out and onto the table, with your cutlery and…..what then?

Setting a dining table for two people can be a simple but elegant affair. Follow my steps to create an intimate atmosphere for your next dinner date:

  1. Choose the right tablecloth or placemats. If you go for for neutral or pastel colours it will create a calming and relaxing atmosphere.
  2. Place plates, silverware, and glasses in their correct positions. The knife should be placed on the right side of the plate, the fork on the left, and the spoon above the plate.
  3. Don’t forget a napkin, you can add it to the plate or beside the setting.
  4. Add glasses for water and wine, if desired. Did you know that a red wine glass should be placed on the right of the knife and a white wine glass on the left? Huh, me neither.
  5. Don’t be like Miley Cyrus, buy the flowers.
  6. Light a candle and dim the lights for a cozy and intimate setting!

By following these simple steps, you can create a beautiful dining table that will impress your dinner guest. Don’t forget to put your phone away and enjoy your meal!
